Hello! I’m Norah, a Boston/Chicago photographer with just under ten years of experience. I have worked as a photography intern, second photographer, main photographer, and salesperson for a camera store. I have gained extensive knowledge of studio equipment and lab work during my time at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. I specialize in portraits, ranging from wedding candid to staged studio images. Through my time running a darkroom in my hometown and my experience at UCLA’s summer intensive, I also am very well-versed in film photography. My practice is heavily inspired by former photographers such as Francesca Woodman and Alex Stoddard who send a strong message through surrealism and grittiness. Working in a medium/art form where women are expected to be in front of the camera rather than behind, I bring a strong passion for feminism to my personal work; through performance and theatrics, I aim to provide a narrative in a single image or series of images to highlight social issues or to emphasize the subject’s identity.
